Ps 119:114 "He is our hiding place and our SHIELD." As a young boy growing up in Northern Ireland I was exposed to a lot of destruction and violence. Daily news would broadcast the horror of sectarian hatred and bitterness. Only a short distance from my home you could here the cry of anarchy as rival factions squared off for a riot. As the tension arose the police riot squad would be called in to intervene and disperse the mob. The police at times would find themselves in a compromising situation, stuck in the middle of opposing groups ready for battle. When a police officer goes out on the streets in N.I to confront a riot, he does not leave with out his shield. The unruly mob wanted to inflict maximum pain and damage with the throwing of petrol bombs, stones, wood, etc. The shield which the officer holds onto protects him from the bombardment of various missiles. The shield can defend him where he is and because he can see through the shield he is able to move forward. When the Christian goes out into this world to confront the riotous kingdom of darkness, he must not leave without his shield. Satan and his cohorts will use any means necessary to inflict maximum pain and damage "The thief comes not but to steal, kill and to destroy". If we hold on to Christ then the enemy's weapons will not prevail. "NO weapon formed against you shall prosper". In Christ we are able to be defended and in Christ even though we are under attack, we can still see and advance. All praise to our SHIELD. A shield is also used to cover. Praise God for the day when the shield of his blood covered and concealed us from the second death. We have been redeemed precious friend by the blood of the lamb and need not fear the condemnation of that father of lies. "He that has begun a good work in you will finish it until the day of Jesus Christ". God bless you and remember your shield is indestructible. - Scott |
